How Much Will the Driving License Cost Me?

Unfortunately, this question can only be answered toward the end of your training. We can only estimate the required number of driving lessons during the course of your training, as each student is different in terms of talent, motivation, etc. Therefore, some individuals might pay around €2000 for a Class B license, but this is extremely rare and usually only possible for those with prior knowledge. On average, you should budget about €4000 - €4500. Of course, it can also be more expensive if you need additional lessons or if you don't pass the exams on your first attempt.

Why should I choose your driving school when there are cheaper options?

This question often comes up for every driving school. However, some people fail to understand that lower base fees and/or cheaper lesson prices at other schools don’t necessarily mean that it will be cheaper in the end! Please refer to our explanations in the pricing information. You might also find it helpful to ask around in your circle about experiences with us.

How long will it take until I have my driver’s license?

This largely depends on you. You can complete both the theoretical and practical parts of the training in a very short time if you wish. For detailed information on intensive courses, please check our homepage. However, there is always a challenge for those who are in a hurry: the processing time for the application at the licensing authority takes several weeks to months. Only after that can the exams be taken. Of course, you can also take a more leisurely approach; most students need about six to nine months on average.

Can I pay in installments?

Most of our customers do this. However, paying in installments means that a portion is paid during the training. Unfortunately, it's not possible to pay only after the exam, as there are often cases where payment becomes difficult to collect.

How are the driving license costs structured?

The basic fee covers all costs for theoretical instruction, the facilities, and the administrative work of the driving school. The learning materials include the textbook as well as online access to the learning program and the app for your smartphone/tablet. The exam fees cover the costs for the school’s presentation of the student, along with the TÜV fees, which are paid directly to the testing organization and not to the driving school.
The costs for driving lessons are divided into practice drives and the legally required special drives (typically twelve hours). Special drives are more expensive because the driving school vehicle covers longer distances, and the instructor's working hours, especially for night drives in summer, require financial compensation.
In contrast to special drives, the number of practice hours required cannot be predicted, as each person needs a different amount of time to meet the requirements of the exam and traffic. A reputable driving school will neither schedule too many nor too few driving hours, as you should be able to pass the exam on the first try and be prepared for traffic, while also not wasting money on unnecessary lessons. Factors that influence the number of practice hours include motivation, diligence (using your driving learning app and the book, especially the practical driving section), talent, and the availability of time for the student.
